Breeze Airways to Offer Direct Flights from Daytona Beach

Daytona Beach International Airport’s roster of airlines is increasing again.

Breeze Airways will begin direct flights to Westchester County/New York beginning in November and will add flights to Hartford, Connecticut, Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina and Providence, Rhode Island in February 2025, according to a county media release.

“Breeze starting service at Daytona Beach International Airport is beyond ‘NICE’,” said Airport Director Karen Feaster, in the release. “Our air service development team has been talking with the route planners at Breeze for more than two years, continually building relationships and now we can celebrate a huge air service win for our community and welcome even more visitors to our beautiful destination.”

Breeze Airways officials said the Sunshine State offers the company more ways to expand its portfolio.

“We have continued to see opportunities for growth on Florida’s eastern coast, and that’s evident by this announcement of four nonstop routes from Daytona Beach,” said David Neeleman, Breeze Airways’ Founder and CEO, in the release. “These great destinations will give the community more affordable, yet elevated travel options.”

Volusia County’s Aviation and Economic Resources Director Cyrus Callum said not only do additional flights add enhanced travel options and the entire travel experience at DAB, but there is also a major economic impact to the Daytona Beach region.

“These four additional flights will result in an annual economic impact to the region, of more than $21 million a year,” Callum said in the release. “In 2023, (the airport’s) annual economic impact was measured at $3.2 billion according to an annual study by the Florida Department of Transportation. Each time more flights are added that impact grows exponentially which benefits the entire community.”

In addition to Breeze Airways, DAB is also served by Avelo Airlines, which began service in June of 2023, and legacy carriers American Airlines and Delta Air Lines, which have served the airport for 15 and 44 years, respectively.

Avelo recently announced plans to resume nonstop service between Daytona Beach and Wilmington Airport serving Philadelphia and the Delaware Valley, according to a county media release.

“We’re excited to continue growth in Daytona Beach and bring back our nonstop route to Philadelphia,” said Avelo Airlines Founder and CEO Andrew Levy, in the release. “We’ve received hundreds and hundreds of requests for the return of this route – you asked, and we listened. Along with the return of Philadelphia, the start of Hartford and our successful New Haven route, we love showcasing Avelo’s low fares, travel-friendly convenience and industry-leading reliability to travelers in Daytona Beach.”

Feaster said Avelo’s announcement shows the vitality of the airport and its importance to the region.

“This is more great news for our community and we are thrilled Avelo is resuming the Philadelphia/Wilmington flights,” she said in the release. “The Philadelphia region is one of our top 10 metropolitan markets for passengers flying in and out, and this flight was very popular with travelers.”
