Did You Know Candy is Now a Health Food?
In what could be one of the greatest scientific breakthroughs in history, or at least a top-tier marketing campaign, a Canadian company has launched Protein Candy, touting the sweet treat as the world’s first “super candy.”
The product contains 14 grams of protein, six grams of fiber, four grams of sugar and only 140 calories, according to a company media release.
“Most protein bars are high in sugar and calories, while most better-for-you candies offer a low-sugar fix without much else,” said Morgan Kingdon, director of marketing at Protein Candy, in the release. “Protein Candy is a game-changing super candy because it satisfies your sweet tooth just like real candy should while delivering a lean, muscle-building protein boost with almost no sugar.”
The world may be ready for a “super candy,” with the global candy market increasing by 34% from 2019 to 2022 and the sugar-free confectionery sector expected to top $4 billion in the next decade.
