Did You Know Robot Lawyers Are the Next Big Thing?
Lawyer jokes have been around since the time of Shakespeare, but the profession may be getting its revenge in the form of robot attorneys.
A Canadian company, Thomson Reuters, recently announced the next step in the AI revolution, a “professional grade” generative artificial intelligence assistant called CoCounsel 2.0 that will “help legal professionals make that transformation, and the resulting competitive advantage, a reality,” according to a media release.
The company says its updated product will work three times faster than the first generation of CoCounsel, generating answers in seconds, not minutes; operate more intuitively, with a better understanding of the ways customers naturally communicate, will have improved ability to make sense of documents; will be able to consider the full context and history of more difficult, sophisticated requests; and be able to access customer documents directly, through server-to-server integrations.
According to a Thomson Reuters report, generative AI is expected to free up 12 hours per week for professionals within the next five years.
