Did You Know Telemedicine Now Includes ‘Telesitting?’
The Covid-19 pandemic created new opportunities in the virtual space, from the growth of the virtual office and classroom to advances in telehealth. But it also spawned an entire virtual care industry, and now that includes “telesitting” services.
VirtuAlly, a virtual care company, recently celebrated its first anniversary providing telesitting services to five hospitals in the Orlando area.
“We are honored to partner with VirtuAlly who is a pioneer in the virtual caring space,” said Candance McNight, senior director of workforce optimization at Orlando Health System, in a media release. “As the healthcare industry adapts to challenges, remote monitoring services have become increasingly important to the system.”
According to the release, telehealth capabilities provide a solution to nurse burnout amidst an aging nation, according to the release. As the baby boom population reaches retirement, the healthcare system expects an influx of patients and this need, combined with the growing trend of nurse burnout, calls for 275,000 more nurses by 2023 as reported by The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
