Flagler County Population Expected to Surpass 217,000

New data from the University of Florida’s Bureau of Economic and Business Research (BEBR) shows Flagler County’s population is set to increase more than previously expected. The new data show Flagler County can expect as many as 172,000 total residents by the year 2030 (most aggressive projection) and approximately 217,000 by 2040.

The below graphic shows the BEBR population projections when the PCF Chamber was founded in 2020 (see strikethrough) versus the newly revised data from BEBR. This indicates population growth is expected to continue and is a constantly moving (but increasing) target.

The new data supports the message the PCF Chamber has been delivering to business and community leaders since our inception: Flagler County is growing significantly, and we must properly plan to prepare for and create a more prosperous future. At the top of the PCF Chamber’s list of concerns is diversifying our economy to be less reliant on tourism and retail jobs, while growing other key employment sectors, such as healthcare. Infrastructure is also a major concern, considering the new population projections. That’s why the PCF Chamber has consistently advocated for increased infrastructure investments.

Save the date of Wednesday, October 30th, when the PCF Chamber will host the Future of Flagler Forum, featuring keynote presentations from Flagler County Administrator Heidi Petito, Palm Coast Interim City Manager Lauren Johnston and Bunnell City Manager Dr. Alvin Jackson.
