Florida Man Games Headed for the Small Screen
The Florida Man Games is getting ready to head to a television screen soon, according to a media release.
“The Florida Man Games will be televised,” said Pete Melfi, founder and commissioner of the event, in the release. “There has been a lot of interest in making this a TV series; producers and studios have been calling since the day after the first event. I’m still getting calls from major production companies, on average, probably twice a month at least. We’re close to a deal with one of the best production companies around, with popular recent specials on Netflix, ESPN and more; they’re the real deal.”
The Florida Man Games began in 2024 with events such as the Evading Arrest Obstacle Course and Beer Belly Sumo Wrestling. Round Two returns with new events like Hurricane Party Prep: Grocery Aisle Brawl and Human Beer Pong, according to the release.
“I think there are a lot of ways we could go with a TV show.” Melfi said in the release. “A docuseries where TV crews follow the competitors as they train leading up to the games. A Jackass meets Gladiators sports series, or maybe a reality show. These guys are all as real and as Florida as it gets, so it makes a lot of sense that this would be one hell of an entertaining televised show.”
The Florida Man Games take place, March 1 at the St. Johns County Fairgrounds, 5840 State Road 207 E in Elkton. The Games benefit the Jimmy Jam Community Outreach, a local 501(c)(3) that helps residents in need. General admission tickets are $25 and VIP tickets are $99.
