From the Chair & President

What an exciting time for our Chamber. In 2019, we are celebrating our 100th Anniversary. Much the Chamber’s celebration will be focused on our region’s culture and growth, successful business stories and, certainly, the role the Chamber has played in shaping our community. It’s very fitting that this issue of EVOLVE represents the importance of our arts and cultural amenities in showcasing our history in music, arts and education.

It’s no secret we are known for our beautiful beaches, scenic waterways, motorsports and recreational activities. However, what adds to the breadth of our offerings and contributes to our positive quality of life is our access to incredible museums, performing arts and cultural diversity.

As you will read in this issue, there is a direct tie between economic development and cultural amenities. Often these special cultural gems play a key role in the final decision for a company and their employees in selecting our area.

We hope this issue inspires you to visit and support our arts community. Bring your friends and family to one of our museums or take them to a performance at one of our many historical venues. We are truly fortunate to have these incredible assets right here in our own backyard.

As we celebrate our 100th anniversary this year, we have added a special historical section to our website at Daytonachamber.com. Content in this section will grow over the year with the help of our community in providing photos and stories that have built our region’s culture, will become a resource and reminder of our past, and will help guide our decisions as we evolve over the next 100 years.
