St. Johns County School District Students Participate in Cybersecurity Program

The STEAM Institute at Jacksonville University will be leading their JU Summer Cyber Practicum for local students.  As part of their required internship/work experience hours in the Computer Science and Information Technology Career Academies students will be offered the opportunity to participate in an intensive hands-on training experience using Cloud Range labs and simulations. Dr. Mini Zeng, Director of the Center of Cybersecurity, CISSP Certified designed this summer camp program specifically for the St. John’s County School District.

Throughout the 5-day experience (9am-3pm), high school juniors and seniors will be exposed to industry leaders and have access to the level of training provided to industry experts. Students will be guided through a curriculum where they can access labs and practice their skills, as they prepare for a live training scenario. Scenarios are the real-life simulated training experiences used by professionals in the industry. This exposure to daily activities to maintain cybersecurity and technology will enhance their interest and learning.

The Center of Cybersecurity at Jacksonville University serves as a regional cybersecurity training hub for Northeast Florida with the objectives of producing highly skilled graduates to address the growing need for experts in the field.  They also work with other training enterprises, consultancies, and government and military organizations.
