St. Johns County to Hold Transportation Summit

Representatives from county, state and federal governments will be at a transportation summit hosted by St. Johns County.

The event takes place March 3 at 9 a.m. at the St. Johns County Auditorium, 500 San Sebastian View, St. Augustine.

The program includes a presentation by St. Johns County staff on strategic transportation infrastructure funding needs throughout the county, according to a media release.

In addition to members of the St. Johns County Commission, officials invited to participate in the summit include U.S. Rep. John Rutherford, Florida House Speaker Paul Renner, Sen. Travis Hutson, State Rep. Cyndi Stevenson, State Rep. Bobby Payne and Florida Department of Transportation District 2 Secretary Greg Evans, the release states.

The County Commission approved a prioritized list of transportation projects to the North Florida Transportation Planning Organization in January. The list included 19 regional projects and 16 local priorities.

The regional projects include widening State Road 16 from International Golf Parkway to the outlet mall entrance to four lanes; Widening St. Johns Parkway from State Road 9B to Silverleaf Parkway; a westward extension of State Road 312 to alleviate congestion on U.S. 1; intersection improvements along State Road A1A from Marsh Landing Parkway to Mickler Road; and a widening of State Road A1A from Mickler Road to Sawgrass Drive West.
