Vested Metals Golf Tourney Raises More than $75K

The Southeast Golf Classic, a charity golf tournament hosted by the Vested Community Foundation, presented in memory of John Mark Leach, raised more than $75,000 for several local charities, according to a media release.

“It’s wonderful when we can bring people together to enjoy a great day of golf while supporting charities that make a critical difference in the community,” said Viv Helwig, president and founder of Vested Metals, a specialty metals and steel supplier, in the release. “This year’s event brings our total giving to over $206,000. With the largest fundraising numbers to date, we’re steadily working toward a $1 million goal over 10 years.”

The tournament began in 2023 to honor the life of John Mark Leach, a beloved Vested Metals team member. Highlights of The Southeast Coil Classic included a putting competition, a live cigar rolling experience, midround ice cream sandwiches, long drive competition, and hole-in-one contest with a chance to win a free car, sponsored by Hyundai of St. Augustine, according to the release.

The tournament was held at Marsh Creek Country Club, with a field of 128 golfers. Money raised at the tournament will help local charities K9s for Warriors, United Way of St. Johns County, THE PLAYERS Championship Boys and Girls Club, Safe Families for Children, Adaptive Superstars, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and Flagler College Athletics, the release states.
