Did You Know Hotel Room Service Offerings Get Creative?

With the travel and tourism industry on the road to recovery after the pandemic downturn, hotels are pulling out all the stops to offer guests a unique experience. And that extends to the room service menu.

According to Hotels.com, the demand for room service is on the rise among guests, and some of the requests are unusual, to say the least.

In the site’s inaugural Room Service Report, guests are ordering over-the-top items including a $1,600 burger and a $300 ice cream sundae. Beyond traditional menu items, guests are making some off-the-wall requests as well.

Among the unusual orders are “diet” water, melted ice cream and a raw fish caught by a guest who requested it cooked to order. The report also found that guests are looking for things beyond food and drink on the room service menu, including in-room concerts.

In addition to unique requests, the report found a growing number of guests spend an average of more than $100 for room service.

“Room service holds a special place in the hearts of hotel guests,” said Melanie Fish, spokesperson for Hotels.com, in the release.
