From the Editor

Welcome to Volusia Goes Global. In this issue we examine companies, large and small, operating on the world’s stage from Volusia County.

How are these companies successfully navigating an international landscape? What makes Volusia County such an attractive place from which to do business? What resources exist to help businesses “go global?” These are some of the questions the editorial committee and I posed while working on this issue. You’ll the find answers to those questions, and much more, in the pages that follow.

In Attracting Opportunity we take a look at how our community successfully lured two of the areas’ largest international players to the County. We continue the conversation with Marketing X Rays founder, Piros Pazaurek, as we explore her efforts to promote Volusia County to small and mid-sized Hungarian businesses.

Area institutions of higher learning are also playing an important role in Volusia County’s global story. From its headquarters in Daytona Beach, Embry–Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU)-Worldwide is training engineers and pilots around the world. And the University of Central Florida’s Soft-Landing program and Embry-Riddle’s MicaPlex, both locally based incubators, have been incredible resources for globally minded companies like TechFit and Aerosapiens.

For those considering whether “going global” is their next right step, Are You Ready to Go Global? and the Going Global? Tap into These Resources are must reads.

And then there is sports. Daytona Beach is home to the Ladies Professional Golf Association, an organization whose members come from 34 countries and whose 2019 tournaments will take place in 12 countries. Daytona is also home to DME. Several of their businesses are making a global impact, including their sports interests which have led them to host teams from China at their amazing facility and, most recently, purchase a basketball team in Germany. You will find both DME’s and the LPGA’s stories here as well.

So many organizations in our community have a global story to tell. From the people they hire, to the cities where they ship their products, to their customer base–it’s clear to see, Volusia truly is global.
