From The Publishers – November 2023
From 1763 until the 1980s Fort Mose was “Unknown”. From then until the planned reconstruction is completed in early 2025 it has been “Unseen”. Now it is a story that is “Untold”.
We are proud to be partnering with Fort Mose Historical Society, Florida State Parks Foundation, St Augustine Amphitheater and Florida Blue to help tell the story of Fort Mose. To learn more, go to the Fort Mose Historical Society website at, fortmose.org/donate/fortmose.org
The two of us first learned of Fort Mose six years ago in 2017 when Barbara was president of the Palm Coast Flagler County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. She and her Sorors brought girls, as part of the youth program, on several occasions to participate in the re-enactments at the site. In 2022, we were able to attend the first Fort Mose Jazz and Blues Series and met Gabe Pellicer, General Manager of the St Augustine Amphitheater, and Charles Ellis, CEO of Fort Mose Historical Society. At that time, funding had not been confirmed for the reconstruction of the Fort. Once the initial funding was secured and as the second annual Jazz and Blues Series was being planned, the concept of a publication to commemorate the reconstruction of Fort Mose began to take shape.
With our partners, we will publish three complimentary digital issues of The Pride of Florida Magazine: The Story of Fort Mose. Each issue will be distributed to 400,000 + individuals throughout the State of Florida. A special commemorative printed version will also be produced and available for purchase at the Fort and online at Evolve-Success.com/Fort_Mose/Subscribe. Net proceeds from the printed magazine will go to the Fort Mose Historical Society, a Florida 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization.
We hope you will find this story captivating. This isn’t just a St Augustine or Florida Story. It is an American Story of freedom, courage, and perseverance!
This is truly an “untold story” but with your support through telling family and friends that will change!
