St Johns Chamber Staff Profile-Jamie Johnson
I am a self-proclaimed media junkie obsessed with social media and photography who wants to find fun and engaging ways of keeping people informed by generating conversation in an open forum (but please, mind your manners.)
I have more than 18 years of experience in both traditional and new media, 9 specifically in social media, with 12 years at Channel 4 – WJXT as a multi-platform producer and social media management, 6 years at the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office as the Digital Relations Officer, and a Public Communications Officer with the City of Jacksonville. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Communications from Jacksonville University and my master’s degree in Public Relations from Purdue University. I also have certifications in Strategic Communications and Post-Crisis Leadership.
I’m affectionately called a “digital unicorn” because I have experience in doing everything communications: social media management, content production, digital marketing, professional writing for print and broadcast, website management, journalism and reporting, video production (both shooting and editing), photography, event management, crisis communications, crisis management, and event planning.
Outside of work, you’ll find me writing fiction or playing with my two dogs my husband and I co-parent with my mom. We affectionately nicknamed them ‘the condiments” since their names are Salt and Pepper. I also enjoy all things nerdy and tech-related, can easily get lost in a bookstore for hours, love a good debate, listen to Spotify as loud as I can, spend time in the gym, and re-watching my favorite TV shows while quoting them as they play.
