Flagler County Considers Economic Development Incentives

Flagler County Commissioners recently expressed interest in exploring economic development incentives, in a move applauded by the Palm Coast-Flagler Regional Chamber. The incentives Commissioners reached consensus on include:

  • Industrial Development Authority
  • Industrial Development Revenue Bonds
  • Fast-Track Permitting
  • “REV” Grant
  • Impact Fee (interest only from accrued fees can be used for economic development incentives)

Chamber President & CEO Greg Blose testified in support of economic development incentives. Click here to watch the video.

The Chamber has closely partnered with Flagler County Government on economic development initiatives over the past three years. Recently, Flagler County’s Economic Development Department presented their research to the Board of County Commissioners in a workshop about economic development incentives. The Chamber has seen first-hand, via meetings with JAXUSA partnership, how other communities are using incentives to successfully grow needed jobs in their communities.

Although consensus was reached in a workshop, more discussion and official action by Commissioners remains. However, any discussion about strengthening economic development in Flagler County is welcome. The Chamber is thankful for Flagler County including our organization and members in conversations about economic development in our region. The Chamber believes we must diversify the types of industries in our communities. Specifically, growing healthcare, manufacturing and other above-median wage jobs in Flagler County is paramount.

The incentives mentioned above are a step in the right direction by the Board of County Commissioners.
