How have you, or your organization benefited from membership in the St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce?

I am obviously new to St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce, but I have been welcomed with open arms. I have met with the staff and they are caring, knowledgeable and they eat, sleep and breathe all things St. Johns County. I am beyond excited to volunteer and meet new individuals.

Briefly describe the services your organization provides the community?

I offer a variety of products that can help you meet a number of insurance and financial needs, including, but not limited to college funding, retirement, managing costs for extended periods of care and lifetime income strategies. I take a holistic and comprehensive approach to ensure that I meet my clients where they are currently at and that they are comfortable.

What career advice do you live by?

Never stop learning and never stop listening. A quote I live by is “In my walks, every man (or woman) I meet is my superior in some way, and in that I learn from him (or her).”-Ralph Waldo Emerson

What are the biggest challenges facing St. Johns County today?

With St. Johns County having so many redeeming qualities from amazing schools to resort style communities, it is no surprise the number of families that want to move here. With the exponential growth, I think a challenge might be ensuring that we have the appropriate infrastructure in place to accommodate the influx of people moving here.

How do you define success?

The ability to make a positive impact in the lives of others while participating in something that is fulfilling and enjoyable.

What past experiences or roles have led you to where you are today?

When I was in graduate school, I worked at a retirement home and learned a lot about people. The elderly I worked with came from completely different backgrounds, but the one thing they all had in common was the excitement they had when given the opportunity to share their stories. I learned the importance of being patient and taking the time to actively listen. I saw the joy it brought them when people took the time to listen.

What is a fun fact about you?

I am a former collegiate baseball player (catcher). Another fact that I obviously can’t leave out because I am a family man-I am married to a wonderful human-being (Amanda), and I have three incredible children: Addison (5), Savannah (3), and Smith (2).
